Der amerikanische Free Comic Book Day ist die Vorlage für den Gratis Comic Tag in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz. An einen bestimmten Tag im Jahr gibt es bei bestimmten Comichändlern besondere Comics kostenlos. Diese sind meist optionale Tie-ins in einen kommenden Story Arc oder eine Zusammenfassung der letzten Ereignisse, selten kann man sogar einen vollwertigen Comic (oder Manga) abstauben.
