Well it depends on what you are looking at.
The part where I live (New England) is very european influenced due to the historical connection so it is kinda similar here.
If you go to another state there would be much bigger differences between Germany and the US.
But of course there are a lot small differences.
For instance - the subsidiary of my company here is much more relaxed.
I can wear what ever I want in the office and nobody care if you talk loud on the phone. On the other hand I always have to show my passport to get booze at a liquor store (and you just get it there).

There are some german bakeries in the US, their bread is loved by many people. Because the Americans theirself only bake this white "bread" or toast.
No wonder many of them are fat xD
